The once magnificent façade that lies before you is now in a state of total disrepair, the walls covered in vegetation and starting to crumble. Owned by an eccentric book collector, who had not lived there for many years, the country house has been left to go to rack and ruin. When the book collector died recently, they bequeathed their collection of manuscript diaries to the Glucksman Library to ensure they would remain preserved for future generations. The will explains that the diaries are held in a safe in the house. While the safe has been located, no-one has any idea what the combination might be.
The Head of Special Collections and Archives at the University of Limerick has contacted you to visit the house to see if you can crack the code. Surely the book collector will have left some clues behind which will lead you to the right combination? The only problem is time is not on your side - the house has been sold and within an hour the new owner will arrive. They have already made it very clear that they will not allow anyone on their property.
The diaries, if found, would be of immense value to historians of nineteenth and twentieth-century Ireland. The Head of Special Collections and Archives is counting on you. Can you solve the mystery in time?
You will need to travel back and forth between rooms to investigate fully.
You currently stand in the entrance porch of the house and have unlocked the door with the key provided to you.
